One of my favorite songs is “I Can Only Imagine” by MercyMe. They sing about what they imagine it will be like when they are finally in the presence of God and it encourages me to imagine the same.
The chorus of the song is:
“Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You Jesus
Or in awe of You be still?
Will I stand in Your presence
Or to my knees, will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine”
And it makes me think…what WILL it be like when I am standing in front of Jesus, humbled, loved, and thankful? I imagine that I will run into His arms and he will already know how thankful I am to be His without me even trying to put it into words (which would be impossible anyway). I imagine that He’ll smile at me and my body will fill with warm joy. I imagine that I will be eager to praise Him in His presence for the rest of eternity.
As I cry while I write this, I wonder, what do you imagine it will be like to be standing in front of Jesus?
